Laura Zylman, B.B.A., L.M.T.
Laura was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. She received her Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Management in 2010 and spent many years in an administrative role in the health care arena. In 2016, she decided she wanted to take a more hands-on approach and decided to pursue her license in Clinical Massage Therapy. She graduated January, 2017 from The Soma Institute in Chicago and was Valedictorian of her class. In February, she joined the team at Equilibrium. Laura understands the importance of taking care of our bodies and living a healthy life. She does an excellent job at finding aches and pains and using clinical massage to help restore healing to an area of complaint.
Bekka Vitarelle, L.M.T.
Bekka moved to Chicago from Upstate New York in 2013 to finish pursuing her Bachelor of Fine Art at The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. During her tenure, Bekka started to take notice of the effects that the culture of stress imposed upon her classmates and herself; a part-time job at a spa in Wicker Park, a class entitled “Wandering Uterus: Journeys Through Gender and Medicine,” and a lifelong case of being a “mom friend,” inevitably influenced her to sign up for massage therapy school within months of receiving her Bachelors.
Bekka graduated from The SOMA Institute in 2017 with Honors. While she has gained a reputation for being a bit “heavy handed,” often using many clinical, deep tissue, and trigger point techniques, Bekka truly views each client as an individual with unique needs and seeks to meet everyone wherever they are in their healing process.
Denisse Alvares, L.M.T.
Massage to me is what helps control my emotions anytime I can do something good/positive for a person it helps me.
Long story short in 2004, after years of depression and being recently laid off from CPS, I saw a newspaper add that said I could make a lot of money as a massage therapist and I enrolled at Illinois School of Health Careers. I met a great teacher who had lost her only son to a motorcycle accident and taught me so much about "good touch" and energy work. I received my first certification in 2005. In 2012, I learned about The Soma Institute, enrolled and received my certification as Clinical Massage Therapist in 2014. Having received both certifications and training have helped to develop my unique style and blends of techniques. Every client is different, therefore, sessions are customized uniquely for their needs.
